Dust on my Boots – Artist Reception
Fri, October 3, 7 – 9 p.m.
During the month of October 2014, the Heyde Center for the Arts in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire will be hosting a visual artist exhibit called “Dust on my Boots.” “Dust on My Boots” is a Veteran’s only visual arts exhibition featuring veterans work from around the Midwest (WI, MN, IA, IL and MI). The exhibit will show that art can be a medium by which Veterans who have been in conflict zones can talk about their struggles returning to civilian life, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and their experiences in the military and/or war. The lead curator is Veteran Phillip Schladweiler. Phillip Schladweiler started The Shrapnel Project, which is the name of the exhibit that allows the viewer to participate in his process of isolation, discovery, and healing. Exhibit runs from October 3 to October 31.
