Dust on My Boots (art exhibit)
The month of October, 10am – 4pm
During the month of October 2014, the Heyde Center for the Arts in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire will be hosting “Dust on My Boots,” a Veteran’s only visual arts exhibition featuring Veterans artwork from around the Midwest. The exhibit will show that art can be a medium by which Veterans who have been in conflict zones can talk about their struggles returning to civilian life, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and their experiences in the military and/or war. The lead curator is Veteran Phillip Schladweiler of The Shrapnel Project. This exhibit will compliment other events at the Heyde Center and UWEC to raise awareness about the challenges that Veterans face and how the arts can help. Admission: Free Sponsored by the William and Gertrude Casper Foundation.
