April 2021 Editor’s Note from Jen Theisen

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered

here today to get through this thing called life.”

~Prince

Hello friends; the above quote is from one of my favorite songs, “Let’s Go Crazy.” It was an iconic song of the summer of ‘84. It takes me back to a time of innocence and a time of freedom from real worry. As I write, I have a fresh cup of coffee, and Prince is playing in the background. I am learning to enjoy the little gifts, and this moment of quiet and time to write is a gift.

Collectively, we have all been through a challenging year. I’ve watched friends and family say goodbye to loved ones who have succumbed to this nasty virus. Ladies, we have navigated working from home, shutdowns, homeschooling, cancelations of weddings, graduations, sporting events, and many other things that we usually would take for granted.

There is light at the end of this horrible tunnel, and we need to celebrate everything big and small. After this very challenging year and living through incredible history, the importance of recognizing and celebrating even the smallest of successes is compelling and boosts moods. Even small wins can help us recognize that we are accomplishing something. My beautiful readers, let’s celebrate and share our stories of happiness and positivity. I will start. I am so excited to share that our very own “Rays of Grace” is graduating from Creighton, AND ITS IN PERSON. Prom is happening. Camp Manitou is back. Football camps are starting to pop up. The grandparents got vaccinated. Travel is picking up. And people are beginning to go back to work in their offices.

This issue is about celebrations and creativity. I hope you enjoy the beautiful stories that applaud our community and how we have found small ways to celebrate. The journey continues in faith, family, friends, fitness, and finance.
