Editors Note August/September 2021

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
-An Irish Blessing

Ladies, not sure about all of you, but our summer has cruised by so very fast. It has been a flurry of activity; summer is always a time to refresh. I planted a garden for the first time. Quinn and I are frantically trying to finish the summer bucket list. Joey is settled in Nashville, and Grace has started her accelerated nursing. Henry is headed to Michigan Tech, and Gus is in full-swing of football practice for his senior year. God is good. What a beautiful gift to spent moments with all these people this summer. During my travels this summer, I spied the above quote, and it’s very fitting for our “Happy Home” edition.

As I write this, I am looking at the sunrise on the beautiful Chippewa Flowage. Growing up, our family had the wonderful tradition of spending two weeks in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Some of my best family memories were made by time spent on the lakes in Hayward, WI. About 17 years ago, my siblings and I started bringing our families to the Hayward area. As I look out onto the water, I can’t help but reflect on the memories and time well-spent with all our kids. I am forever grateful for the traditions of time at a cabin, and that my children will always have these incredible summer memories with cousins, family, and friends we met along the way.
As you walk into the lodge where I am staying, the sign reads “Welcome Home.” As I contemplate my life, that sign, and this beautiful view, I am overcome by emotion and realize that a house does not make a home — people do.
I love my house and all the time spent bringing the old place back to life. It has been pure joy to see my kids grow up and race through it — both literally and figuratively. I loved picking every piece that has gone up in the beautiful old space. However, what I love most about my home are not things, but my people and memories.

This issue is about a Happy Home. I am so excited to share with you unique decorating ideas to make your space the best it can be. It will also showcase how, as women, we balance many things to make our homes the best they can be. Be sure to check out the fabulous fashion finds to share with friends. As always, we will have great recipes and ideas to share with family and friends as we enter this new season of, dare I say, fall.
Remember my sweet mamas, wherever you are, may you always be welcomed home, and may God always fill your heart with gladness to cheer you. I am forever grateful to my advertisers and tribe of contributors that make this possible month after month. The Journey continues in Faith, Family, Friends, Fitness, and Finance.
