For the love of it all! I am convinced I’m the queen of procrastination. Ladies, it’s been a rough one. I was certain, after the holidays, we would slow down. Well, that was a nice thought. I am, however, so excited about this For the Love: Renew and Redo issue (despite the tardy letter from the editor). As February rolls in, so does the light at the end of Old Man Winter’s tunnel. Although this February we observe a leap year, it’s still a short winter month. I do love February, and it’s not because of its mushy-gushy holiday. Warmer days are around the bend, and March is hot on her heels.
Anyone who knows me well understands my common use of the saying “For the love of {fill in the blank}!” February has long been heralded as the month of love. But it’s not just romantic love. Indulge me ladies, as I share with you a few of my loves.
For the love of the dogs! Yet again, in spite of many deterrents, they treated themselves to a wee-hours-of-the-morning garbage binge but chose the tiled bathroom floor instead of my new, gorgeous rug for their consequential diarrhea episode.
For the love of my husband who, without fail every (very early) morning, brings coffee to my bedside. Then, without complaint, he makes one more trip downstairs to grab me a bottle of water. For the love of my husband who investigates every mysterious noise in this creaky, old house.
For the love of little Miss Grace and her new driver’s license! Grace, thank you for grabbing the forgotten grocery items, taking the boys to school, dropping off at an extra practice, and for usually having a smile on your face while doing it. There are days I may even get to steal a few minutes of quiet because of your help. For the love of my boys—my messy, seemingly-incapable-of-picking-up-their-clothes boys! You make me smile daily. You are so fun to watch at all your sporting events, but if you could “do me a solid” and not lose one more pair of Kings basketball shorts, I would be so appreciative.
For the love of my amazing sisters who make me laugh until I cry! When we get together, people look at us in amazement (or confusion) as we gab at break-neck speed in half-finished sentences, always knowing exactly what the other means.
For the love of my much-too-expensive running tights! I love you for keeping me warm during these frigid days.
For the love of health! Gals, we need to get out there and move, get our checkups, and invest in our well-being. With so many depending on us, we give them a gift when we take time to care for ourselves.
For the love of faith that carries me through the challenges in my life, granting me opportunities to stretch and gain perspective about what it’s all worth and truly about.
I know you’ll be inspired by this For the Love issue. We would love to hear how we are encouraging you. Yet again, I am blown away by the contributors and their love stories of faith, family, friends, fitness, and finance. The journey continues.
