Luck is what happens when preparations meet opportunity.

Friends, this issue is all about love and luck. While I do believe that on occasion lucky things happen, my personal premise is that if you work hard, are dedicated, and are committed to a cause or goal, then you are going to encounter far more opportunities than if you had just shown up hoping for a lucky shot. Now I am a gal who has a lot of faith. So I also believe in “God winks,” and my crew has gotten a lot of mileage from me saying “God wink” when something unexpected or “lucky” happens. (The phrase comes from the book When God Winks: How the Power of Coincidence Guides Your Life.)
I’m so excited to share this issue with you, as we are launching our Taking 5ive meet ups. This year, we are kicking off a networking group for women. Here’s the 411: once a month, we will meet to share ideas about relevant matters in our lives. Each month, we will tackle a different topic where we as women can share gratitude, strength, and courage. There will not be a fee to be part of this group, because networking and talking to other women shouldn’t cost you anything. As women, we are so into our lives—as mothers, wives, businesswomen, and just trying to make it through—that occasionally we can lose sight of the things we are aiming for. The goal of the meet ups is to foster an environment to navigate goals, share ideas, and promote camaraderie with the women in our community. Dates and details are inside this issue. I hope, my beautiful readers, that I am able to get to know you on a whole new level this year.
Amid the constant changes in our lives, I hope that as we move through this year, you’ll turn to 5ive for a bit of creativity, innovation, support, and joy. The journey continues in faith, family, friends, fitness, and finance.
