Regarding Mom: XXII

WRITTEN BY GRACE THEISEN

Grace rotated small - August 2014-p193oenr7r1rrp3lv1f94gvalogSince Mother’s Day is right around the corner, I have been thinking about how much I appreciate my mom. I want to take the time to thank her and do some bragging about her.

I come from a large family; I have four brothers and two dogs. Admittedly, we can be a lot to handle. Let me just say that things get a little crazy around our house. There is always a kid who is supposed to be somewhere, or a school project to work on, or a dog running away, and somebody under the mistaken impression that there is “no food in the house” (even though Mom always provides delicious nourishing meals in between running us all over town). Still, with all this action, somehow my mom keeps everything under control.

Mom leads by example and always expects my brothers and me to work hard and do our best. It is not always easy to keep five kids working hard and doing their best. We kinda like to mess around or see if we can get out of work. Sometimes we pretend that we did not hear her, or that we forgot, or that we have too much schoolwork to take the time to help around the house. (I suspect she knows this but let’s us get out of a tiny bit of housework so we’ll do our homework. Tricky, Mom!) Mom wants us to succeed, but even when we don’t succeed, she is proud of us as long as we work hard and do our best.

My mom always puts others ahead of herself. She might have about a million other things going on, yet she will drop everything to help someone in need. Even with a career, she is involved with family, our schools, and the community. She is an amazing lady, and she inspires me.

I’m so inspired that I’m going to feed the dogs, put my little brother to bed, and clean up my room. Well, I would … if only I didn’t have so much homework. {wink} Thanks for being a great mom.
